Gym Classes
We have a host of activities and classes available. The concept of our fitness breaks is for you to try something new or freshen up your current program. Take a look at a selection of what we do and if you fancy giving one a try just let us know in your fitness questionnaire and we’ll add it in - it’s as simple as that.
Aerobics – a popular class and the name will be familiar to you, aerobics is a physical exercise that combines stretching and strength training to improve all elements of fitness – cardio-vascular, flexibility and strength. The exercises are rhythmic, dance based. There are two variations on these classes, Aerobics and Aerobic circuit.
Spinning – is a great way to burn off calories, a good cardio-vascular session on a ‘spinning bike’, we have found these sessions a real benefit to fitness levels to assist distance running. Build endurance and strength in your legs.
Body Power – a system based on the BodyPump system created by Les Mills the Kiwi fitness guru. It is believed it was designed to get men into the fitness studio!. This is a weight-based session to target all the major muscle groups using a barbell, dumbbells, free weights and step. It focuses on endurance, as there are a lot of repetitions, great for toning and an all over workout. Working out to inspirational music.
Body Combat - a full body workout without using weights but using boxing and martial art rhythmic movements to improve stamina, agility and overall cardio fitness levels.
Pilates – focuses on core postural muscles to help keep the body balanced and essential in providing support for the spine. Pilates teaches the awareness of breathing, spine alignment and adding much needed strength to the abdominals. A very disciplined and specific program.
Yoga – originated in India and associated with meditative practices. Good for the heart and soul and a superb way to relax, unwind and focus. Improves posture, range of movement, breathing and most important - your mind.
Stretching – is a critical part of fitness and a discipline often overlooked or certainly not allocated the right amount of time. The muscle is deliberately elongated to its fullest length in order to improve the elasticity and reaffirm muscle tone. To improve range of movement and flexibility. Important to alleviate cramps and reduce injury.
Abdominals – often referred to as ‘core’ and such an important area that again gets overlooked. There are a variety of abdominal muscles that each needs targeting to improve posture and strengthen the back. This class dedicates time to isolating this muscle group. We have two adaptions of this class, abs and abs circuit.
GAP - This class concentrates on glutes, abs (bums & tums!), and legs, very popular with the ladies.
Jazz Dance - Exactly as it says on the 'tin'. Why not try something new.
